It’s been neigh on impossible to find any stock of the recently released new graphics card from AMD.

I was looking to upgrade my Nvidia GTX 1070 and was keen on the RX 6700 XT but on launch day there was zero stock levels at all the AMD listed retailers!

A few hours later there were listings on eBay and Amazon charging more than double the recommended retail price! 🙁 The scalper bots and miners must have got in there and eaten up the limited supply within a few seconds.

Despite AMD promising that there would be more supply available compared to previous card launches this does not seem to have been the case. Apparently, 80% of AMD’s 7nm wafer allocation is going exclusively to the SoCs for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Apple Inc. and ARM Ltd. have also booked 80% of the capacity of 5-nanometer processors. This has affected availability of their new 5000 series CPU lines as well as the new GPUs. Nvidia have also have also been using up some of TSMC’s other allocation. All their latest card are all out of stock too.

At the moment the only affordable cards available (and they are still in very short supply) for new builders or people that want to update from integrated graphics – is Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 1030. Whilst not being the fastest card out there… it will still allow you to play games at low-medium settings at 1080p with 60FPS or more.
